Title: Making Galleries from a server trough the network is extremely slow.. Post by: BertD on February 20, 2015, 07:18:27 pm ..even having a max download of 60mb/s.
Is there another way to do this faster like extracting this collecting from my backup HDD having the same directory structure and then convert the created links to the server path where I want it to be? This would be handy especially if in time I want to move the files to another drive or from the HDD if the server died... without the need to do it all over again. What this requires is defining very explicitly in advance what your Drive Letter is going to be for the end situation. Say Z:. Now attach the external local drive and give that the same Drive Letter (thus e.g. Z: again). Create your Galleries. This part is wrong because the "local" what we talk about here already *is* on the server. Brief conclusion : You start out wrongly by not performing this process on the server to begin with. Now map the share as you can find it in the Music PC to once again a Drivle Letter Z:. Now you can access the Galleries from both the Server and the Music PC as intended. Additional notice : For all of the Music volumes you should do the same. So what's named e.g. G: on the server, should be mapped as G: on the music PC to that same volume (share). And a last notice : Generating the Galleries from the music PC can work, but apart from more slow it will be very vague what you're doing (all looks like working) but next on the server it may not work. So the key of it all is to have it working exactly the same from anywhere. Try a small bit to see you got the gist, and when failed, undo the Galleries from within XXHighEnd and NOT manually !! N.b.: Leftovers from the XXHighEnd process to this regard can be deleted manually, but only afterwards (after the official means of attempt). Thanks for the explanation ... will give it a try and if it works out then proceed. Bert Title: Re: Making Galleries from a server trough the network is extremely slow.. Should be okay as long as new errors stay away (like not having enough memory?). That last error can be clicked away and luckily things proceed from there. So far so good. :derisive: Bert |
