Title: Mac Mini power consumption Post by: Mamba315 on November 24, 2014, 11:01:57 pm Finally got around to measuring my Mac's power consumption during music playback.
2012 Mac Mini OSX 10.9.5 (not Yosemite) 2.3 Ghz i7 256 GB SSD 4GB RAM Music player - Audirvana+ Upsampling off, software volume control inactive - was testing on the Benchmark DAC2 Will run tests on the Phasure NOS1a to see if the up sampling filters & software volume control change these numbers during steady playback 1.0TB music drive connected via USB, video signal on - 13.0 watts 1.0TB music drive connected via USB, video signal off - 12.4 watts 1.0TB music drive not connected, video signal on - 10.7 watts 1.0TB music drive not connected, video signal off - 10.1 watts 1.0TB music drive is spinning type, not SSD Next I will test on the Phasure NOS1a under Mac OSX, then Win7/XXHE Title: Re: Mac Mini power consumption Post by: PeterSt on November 25, 2014, 09:20:05 am Nice ...
Title: Re: Mac Mini power consumption Post by: Mamba315 on December 31, 2014, 02:28:42 am Another update..
Same Mac Mini running Win 7 Ultimate and XXHE - power draw hovers between 16-17 watts during music playback Standard OS install with no tweaks, and with that external music drive connected. So average 3.5 watts higher than OSX under similar conditions. Title: Re: Mac Mini power consumption Post by: PeterSt on December 31, 2014, 08:04:08 am Hey, interesting. But this was not under Minimized OS, right ?
