Title: DSP Bass Gain Post by: manisandher on October 20, 2014, 07:34:09 pm The original DSP file that Peter provided me for my Orelo (haha... NOT Orelino) speakers had the bass gain set to -27.0dB. From initial listening, this was clearly too high attenuation. With a bit of trial and error (i.e. no actual SPL measurements), I set it to -25.0dB for the best balance.
Right now, with my '75B' NOS1a, the bass might be ever-so-slightly too heavy - voices are just a tad too husky (though otherwise gorgeous). So I might want to play around with the gain a little. But before I do this, I have a couple of questions for you Peter. 1. Is the initial setting of -27.0dB the 'correct' setting for optimal cross-over performance? 2. Both questions are actually the same if you only see that the answer to #1 is "not". This is how it is designed. Otherwise I am almost sure that the -27 you "received' is 1.5dB too low for the reasons I already could not explain to you by email. Almost sure, which means not 100%. But derived from this, my "original" setting would be -25.5 compared to your -25.0. So reasoning from there you should be 0.5dB too high compared to what I have here.
