Title: Room EQ with XXHighend? Post by: minzyman on January 27, 2014, 01:44:10 am Has anyone addressed room correction when using XXHighend, with digital EQ filters such as Fab filters or some Win version thereof? I have a few nasty room dips in the bass, about 15db dip at 60Hz and again at 120Hz and the bass response in my room is quite weak. This is especially apparent near the right speaker, where the wall configuration is different from the left side.
I have a friend who is running a Mac system and has several Fab filters addressing a few issues in the bass (only) on his system and the bass response is awesome, the kick drum and low level detail really gets your foot tapping. Any digital EQ software out there that is recommended to work with XX? Thanks. /LM Title: Re: Room EQ with XXHighend? On the CA Forum f.i. (http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f23-dsp-room-correction-and-multi-channel-audio/dirac-24-192-when-18496/) I read that Dirac software isn't ready for 705600/768000 or 352800/384000 files. This software is certainly improving and by all accounts easily audible to ones ears.
Is it time to include the ability with Xxhighend to enable such programs? Others get good reviews audiolense, Acourate to name two. The listening room is the most problematic for most listeners. I don't know whether it is in this topic, but with some tricks I once had it running, and it totally kills the sound. Of course we all have our standards, and for example Robert's can't be judged, but for anyone owning a NOS1 this really is not working out. Best could be to try e.g. Foobar and get a bit used to the sound, and then try something like Dirac Live. You sure will be able to "equalise" the room (better : listening position), but there will be no listening joy. Thus my promise : net it will be worse. I did not read Kal's review, but know that he is (almost ?) exclusively in multichannel. That is fine, but maybe not for us. Peter |
