Title: Playback Drive Format
Post by: coliny on January 09, 2014, 02:02:39 pm
Your page on formating gives this command:-
format F: /fs:exFAT /q

Should it not include command for 64K cluster:-

F: /FS:exfat /A:64000 /Q

Hi Colin,

The question is good but the answer is No;
The command given is an emergency format (for when the volume appears not to be empty - occupied by system files), and later XXHighEnd will be able to format it herself because of your command - now with its own under the hood options.

Regards,
Peter

Hi Peter

I have 7GB unformated on my drive so for now I will format it NTFS 64K clusters using W7 partition utility and see how it goes.

Thanks
Colin

My experience with the ramdisk is that no matter what you've formatted it to, xx will reformat the playbackdrive to exfat.

The strange thing is that I could hear differences between different "original" diskformats.

Thanks Coen

For me also XXHE has changed it to exFAT.

I think there's no gain for me using playback drive. In terms of speed that is.
