Post by: Robert on January 03, 2014, 04:40:57 am Definitely worth running with W7 a noticeable improvement in sound quality. Check my signature, I'm limited by using a laptop which has only 2 cores. I've found Peters W8 settings to also work with W7. Havn't tried changing settings yet still getting use to the sound.

I've been listening to it initially with Peter's settings for the 0.9.... version; but will also try it with the W8 settings under W7. I'm just looking for good starting points and will tweak it from there to get the sound I want on both OS's. I find it's better to start at different extremes and then work my way towards something that best suits the system.

Thanks. Will definitely give those settings a try under Win 7. Just got it running under Win 8 with excellent results. I haven't yet tried fetching music files over the lan, where the lan is only on while fetching the files. This is an interesting feature indeed and seems to imply that storing music on a NAS is now preferable to a drive tethered directly to the computer. Although Peter is mainly speaking about an old computer instead of a NAS. I would rather use a NAS as long as there are no delays or SQ hits. Geoff Title: Re: 1.86a For W8 only?
