Title: Restore point W8
Post by: Gerard on September 21, 2013, 08:01:07 pm
Peter,

After installing W8 a restore point with minimize could be made. But i have gone back to original state.

I like to go back to minimise mode now and a restore point could not be made because of this.

sorry beetje moe....  :)

Sorry to intrude... I used Google translation to understand :)

Gerard, is it possible that you are changing from Minimize OS to Normal OS with the copy that is in ramdisk ?

Not that it will automatically correct things, but I strongly advise to always use the physical XXHE that is on your disk to do this, not the XXHE in ramdrive...

Regards,

Alain

Hey alain,

Don't excuse  :)

No i only use Imdisk for playback drive. If i try to open restore point in un minimize mode i get the same message as in XX.

Ah ok :)

PS: I am actually playing music with my power amplifier directly connected to the NOS1. So far so good !

Hey Alain, those are great news!. What about the differences in SQ in comparison to the previous situation when you were using your preamp? Do you like it more?, I´m eager to know how you see it.

Hi Juan.

Well there are subtle differences, some details seem clearer, but it also tells me that my preamp is (was) quite transparent.

I don't find this as easy as with a volume at hand, but it certainly follows the suggestion that less is better :)

I have also tested with a reboot, without shutting the power amp: only a tick so it looks as if I was worried for no reason...

Alain

Gerard,

To me it looks like you possibly did not finish the boot into MinOS properly. So, it has gone "half-way". Then I think you can get this situation.

Just boot into MinOS (forget the Restore Point which you already have anyway), and when done boot back into Normal OS (for testing this, otherwise never mind). Done ? then again goto MinOS and try to make the Restore Point first. I think that will work now, and if not somewhere in the process messages should have appeared ...
