Post by: s_chris on September 19, 2013, 04:21:24 pm
Hi,

a friend has now two disks for music (one is full now).
D:/musicI
E/:musicII

Could he concatenate both in xx settings music root?
I tried it, but i was not able to do it.
Is there another way?
He change now in settings each time he want to play music from other disk.

Hi there Chris,

Create a folder "All Music" (or whatever you like) on the disk where XX resides (but can be any disk in the end, like a special fast SSD);

Go to the first disk with music and ask for it in the library area like you are used to (ask for the "music root" of that).
Now select all the albums in the Library Area, rightclick on one of them and choose "Add to Gallery". From there select your "All Music" folder (see above).

Do extactly the same with the other disk.

Change the Music Root in settings to the "All Music" folder.
Done.

If you now start XXHighEnd, by default this "Gallery" will be active in the Library Area (or Embedded Explorer in the left).

Please notice that this is not 100% robust since there is no databse in order for this. So, it is all just "folders" with Meta Data. This means as a first that you can't go with (embedded) Explorer and change names or delete (or add) folders in your Galleries. So, use the XXHighEnd functionalities for this and *still* be careful. Most normal things for maintenance work, but when you run into something which is just not provided you are in a sort of trouble. Like the album still showing up in the Gallery, while the Original is not there anymore. So here too : Do not manipulate Albums in the original folders outside of XXHighEnd, or the connection to the Gallery (or Galeries) where it's held is lost. You can remove the album from its Galleries though and next do what you want, and after that add it again. But there you have the inconveniency factor : in which Galleries was it ?

So it takes a bit of learning what is possible and what not, but I can ensure you that I have no problems with it. Point though : I know what can and can't be done in advance.

Kind regards,
Peter
