Title: 40 | Windows 8 Tutorials - Windows 7 Shell Post by: PeterSt on June 03, 2013, 01:46:22 pm Although the good old Start Button lacking is a subject within itself, it is for the better SQ that you will want the Metro Desktop to be out of the way;
In your XX folder you will find a sub folder named "Windows7_Shell". There are two Readme's in there and you should read them both (especially about who created this beautiful feature). The setup.exe in there requires your Windows 7 installation DVD of the very same type of Operating System. Without that, the Windows 7 Shell can not be installed. You *have* to leave all proposed defaults for paths and names 100% the same, or otherwise it won't be compatible with XXHighEnd. After the installation completes, you will find an icon on your Metro Desktop to switch Shells (which at this time still is Windows 8). Click it and it will ask you to switch. When you do, you will be logged of, and after loging in again you will see 100% Windows 7 (it is not 100% technically - more about that in a next Tutorial). Under your startbutton you will see a choice for switching again, and so you can always re-engage the Windows 8 Metro Desktop. With the Windows 7 Shell active, the Windows 8 (Metro Desktop) Shell will never have been started. So, you go directly into the Windows 7 (Desktop) Shell. |
