Title: Q5 ToolTip question + new 0.9z-9b download Post by: PeterSt on May 31, 2013, 07:56:44 pm Download of 0.9z-9b is in the original download topic here :
XXHighEnd Model 0.9z-9 (with new SQ parameter in Q5) (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=2585.msg26751#msg26751) Now I really really wonder ... The original Release Notes in there mention a new SQ parameter, Q5. It refers to the Tooltip on it which was NOT working. Can people, please, explain how it happens that exactly one person only made notice of that to me (by email, and great thanks JohanZ) ? I mean, if we are as far as having too many SQ controls I can also keep them for myself. Still I do NOT think that I can do this all alone. Maybe that helps ? Anyway, that ToolTip is now available in 0.9z-9b. I think it is crucial to know how it is to be used. You really can't dial this in the blind ... But looking forward to reading all about Q5...

I felt that I was too stupid to find that Tool Tip myself... But I hesitated a lot... Excuses of course should have mentioned it!! P Title: Re: Q5 ToolTip question + new 0.9z-9b download Post by: listening on June 01, 2013, 09:00:48 am Hi Peter,
I depend on all other tough guys here ... You are so responsive to our problems that I feel sorry for that. But the first thing I tried to test was the rewritten engine with the same parameters as before - to get a stable point for SQ again. Q5 is the next step - and now with tooltip :). Thanks a lot for your work! A lot of people enjoy playing around, so if you throw out functions they wont be happy. But I think there are a lot of functions and beeing away one year from following the progress, I got the impression there are too many variables involved. Maybe we could start to sort out some functions, that do not improve the soundquality. We could start to elect the top five "best functions" and the top five "never used functions". By discussing the results we could start to throw things out or build in functions by standard, which are never used or just have no serious impact to sound quality.
An Example: Lets say in comparison to arc pred and peak ext, nearly everything can be neglegted. The next strong influence may be done by the processor schemes (does anybody uses an other scheme than 3?) and memory management. Then comes Q1 and now Q5. Please keep in mind, I haven't tested all of the new stuff and I do not say throw everything out except what I mentioned in my example but I think there are a lot of old functions that could be removed to keep the mind free and make it easier to make progress with the new functions. A small portion of uncertainty or curiosity is sometimes a good guide to look outside the box. And we can decide by ourself to retire for a time or to ride the wave :)
