Title: Removed Switching Supplies from everywhere Post by: juanpmar on May 27, 2013, 11:16:11 am Hi Peter,
You have this phrase in your signature: Removed Switching Supplies from everywhere Would you please let me know how to do it?. I´m not asking for the theory behind the Switching Supplies, only how and where ("everywhere") to do it. Perhaps it requires more time than you have at this moment, in such a case I´d appreciate the help of someone else on this issue. Thanks in advance Juan Title: Re: Removed Switching Supplies from everywhere Post by: PeterSt on May 27, 2013, 11:34:03 am Hi Juan,
Out of its original context this looks "false" or undoable. But in my (practice !) context this is about a separate mains ring for audio (with separate earth) and remove every switching supply from there. I think now you understand better. Especially when I add this : ... Except the PC. The latter, because I explicitly want that on the same mains ring because otherwise there will be a DC Offset between the two earth's hence rings hence everything and no good sine supply will be on the audio ring just the same. So I have to accept the PC (until a feasable linear PSU can be used). So, simple as that, with the notion that every switching supply still needed is in another ring. Think monitor, USB externally powered devices, other PCs, and the whole household sh*t of these days (needing chargers for everything and all). During playback the monitor is physically switched off (besides XXHE doing it). This too is important because otherwise - I think every monitor does this - a 92KHz spike will be in the audio output. Anyone with one mains ring only (meaning one earth pen/reference) is perceivedbly not able to do this (which would come down to pull out everything your household runs on), including devices which hold our precious beers ! Something like that ? From my door to the interior of my home I have separated differential circuit breakers and cables only for my system. The only things I have connected to this circuit are the NOS1 and the amps, all of them with different circuit breakers. I have also connected to this circuit a power conditioner where is connected the Music PC, the external powered USB hub and the external USB hdd. I guess I could take out of this ring the power conditioner and those USB connections if this could help to better SQ. None of the home appliances or other computers are connected to the audio ring.
The problem could be the earth connection that is common to all. Best regards, Juan |
