Well no, not really (you did not forget). So I tried... Did not work... I am reinitializing the PC right now, because I did too much stuff before, so maybe this explains why it does not work still ?

Please not worry about me. I was not able to create a restore point, but I am quite sure I did something wrong long before I attempted to install the latest XXHIGHEND.

I will simply reinstall from a backup and start from scratch. It's not a big deal :)

I will post my results. And if it is tomorrow, no problem either :)

I concur with Stanray but worse I can't get mimimise OS to work.  I've tried going back to z8a and that won't minimise either. This is with basic settings no tweak settings. z8a was working fine last night with all the settings showing in my profile. I've deleted and reloaded fresh activated installs of z8 a + d versions still no minimise OS.

No restore point for 0.9z8-a, Robo?

No didn't work. I should have set restore prior to loading z8d. Yes hard lesson not creating a restore point prior. Does this mean a new OS install and online activation etc argh???? I tried after reading all minimise OS forum words, all advice offered, but no good.

It all went wrong when I dropped d files over a but XXhighend was still in minimised OS. It only plays 4 songs then stops also. Gone back to z7 now works fine. I suspect OS with z8 is corrupted. Its become too hard I've spent too much time on this today.

All is working fine with Windows 8. I was able to MInimize OS with no problem :) It was all those services that I deactivated that created problems when I did my attempt today. I also had to get a new activation code (for the same reasons I guess).

I don't see how this can make sense (I don't mean your sentence, but the happening). It is something I do 200-300 times per day, really (a new build and try). It may be a psychological thing because you (all) were told earlier that you shouldn't be in Minimized Mode wgen upgrading etc. But a. this should not matter anymore (but could) and b. this is not something which behaves as an update. Just replace some programs and it does nothing.

Undoubtedly something "bad" happened to you, but it hardly can be this as the cause.


This looks strange as well. When you went into Minimized with 0.9z-8a there (say, last week), did you deny the question for making a Restore Point ? This is not what you are saying, but assumed you just allowed for it, it should be there.
But what to use it for ? beats me. I guess we have come to a stage that better understanding is needed, especially because things got more easy (! ?).

I don't know what to advise at this moment because I don't have real data (as to why you can't get Minimized and such). I can tell though that chances look 99% that you are not activated anymore and *that* can easily be because you did other than "just applying that zip" ?? E.g. create a new folder first maybe ?

But anyway Robert, when you can't Minimize, please tell why. Messages ? just the exact sequence. And check whether you are activated of course.

Can you remember and tell me what actually did not work. How it did not work, and whether it looked 100% the same as the 0.9z-8a experience you encountered at first ?

This is not crucial to know, but since I like it not to go wrong for anyone ...

I was having problems with WP but now with 09z-e-x installed all is OK. To get rid of error messages I just had to completely reinstall so my problems might have been local to me. Anyway all is OK now with latest WP.

It behaved the same way as it was doing with 8a - no display at all. And yes it was with the files from 8d, because when I initialized W8, copied the XXHIGHEND folder back and started it, it was indicating "8d".

During Christmas time, I exported all the original services in an excel file (to have a reference) and started deactivating many of them. After I exported that new list again and made an excel file with different columns to have a view of what was changed. At the end, I had a little under 20 services working, but I knew I would eventually run into problems when Minimize OS would work.

I may have deactivated a service that was related to the restore function, because when I tried to Minimize OS yesterday, an error message popped saying that it was not possible to create a restore point. Nonetheless I decided to go forward. Then...

At this point I should have used F8 but from what I experienced before, I decided instead to restore from an Acronis backup. It was a PITA to make F8 work, so I skipped this part.

After the Acronis restore it was easy to initialize and I could verify that it was working well. The only surprise came from the fact that I had to insert my W8 installation DVD, because it seemed that some files were missing (?).

Ah... And since I had deactivated the DVD reader/writer from the Device Manager, at first the initialization was not starting ;) I had to activate it - something not to forget :)

By the way: I haven't tried again the dongles for Bluetooth connection, but I will and report the results... It did not work the first time, no matter what compatibility I tried (XP, Vista, W7)...

Sorry but with so many celebrations these days I´m a little lost. I installed the main 0.9z-8 version and in the same folder the z8c-01. I don´t know if now I have to jump directly to the last 0.9z-8e version and unzip it in the same 0.9z-8 folder together with the z8c-01 that´s already there.
Can someone clarify it please?

Don't be bothered by that z8c-01; just paste over the 0.9z-8e over your current XX folder.

That "insert DVD part" will be because of the necssity to install Dot-net 3.5 which is not automatically installed with W8 (4.0 is). But you should have received the same sequence at earlier (fresh) attempts ?

Ah... Sh*t ! I should not only read the fine prints, but re read them ! I remembered that I needed to install net 3.5, but instead I downloaded it. I had to retry quite a few times, with an error message telling that there was a problem while attempting to download it... But it finally installed, though I do not recommend it (because of all the failed attempts)...

Thanks for reminding this... Next time (I hope there will be no next time)... To be on the safe side, I did an Acronis with XXHIGHEND activated, so I should be quiet with the activation process... ;)

Ok, I did it and the ticks are gone (except the tick before the first track that now seems weaker). In the GUI appears XXHighEnd 0.9-7-5 (C:\XXDownloads\XXHighEnd\XXHighEnd-09-z8a)
Nothing about the 0.9z-8e installed. Is that correct?

If you really pasted over any 0.9z-8 folder, check your shortcut ?

I did something wrong installing the 0.9z-8e without Minimize OS. Now I have some problems. Minimize OS doesn´t engage.
Now I have to go away for a while, I´ll be back in a couple of hours.

Nothing changed about that. Except for I have found a driver which works here. Will send it to you by email.

Yes, I was using a wrong shortcut. Now all is ok and there are no ticks, not even the one at the beginning of the first track. The sound seems to be cleaner than before.
