Title: XX screwed up Post by: CaOd on December 20, 2012, 11:51:47 am When booting up (after normal closing the nicht before), I was confronted with a strange looking XX yesterday and a lot of error messages, not recognising my normal settings.
Any idea what happened? Thanks Carsten Title: Re: XX screwed up Post by: PeterSt on December 20, 2012, 12:58:38 pm Hey Carsten,
Well, that first error message will be the important one, but I'm sure you don't know what that was anymore. But something will have gone corrupt in the PresetLoader file. You can look in your XX folder whether there's a usable PresetLoader.XXSI backup in there. I made this work such that it only saves a backup when all is still OK but I made this in one of the latest versions and maybe it is not in the 0.9z-7-4 you are using. I don't even know anymore how the backup is called; probably PresetLoader.bak (delete the PresetLoader.XXSI and rename the .bak to .XXSI). If that is not there, there's a PresetLoader-FreshInstall.XXSI and you can copy that over the PresetLoader.XXSI file. Then all should work again, unless more is the matter. So let me know. Notice that this "FreshInstall" will make it act like indeed it is a new install, so you will need to reactivate. You can do that with the Code you have - if all is right. Please keep in mind that either way you will have lost your current settings. Any idea what caused this file to go corrupt that I can avoid the next time? Or is it simply bad luck and I can use this trick to get everything back up and running (should have done this the last time when I on error made a fresh install, would have been much easier...). The new .bak file will now be generated automatically and can be used for the same purpose in the future?
Thanks so much, I keep enjoying music witt XXHighend, Carsten Title: Re: XX screwed up Post by: PeterSt on December 20, 2012, 08:57:47 pm Carsten, no idea. I think only one week back I heard similar from someone for the first time. But I had it once myself and couldn't even repair with my "manual" means. This is when I created that .bak feauture - which btw has been there forever, but it was written to at each shut down of XXHE; Also when in that bad shape. So, that little feauture apparently works now.
Thanks for reporting back and best regards, Peter |
