I am unable to play 24bit 192 or 96 music. I get a dialog box popup that says: "Illegal Sample Rate or Bit Depth Conversion Implied" Do I have an error in set up?

Maybe it helps if I tell you that what the message says will be true. Sounds strange, but I mean : don't think about bugs. Try to think about how you should interpret the message instead. Example :

If you set that little slider in the top left pane to 8x but don't engage any filtering means (AI, AP, LI), you would get his message. So, this is nothing about your DAC rejecting things, but you implying things which are not possible. And, in 90% of *those* cases you can already see this by the output which stays blank or shows red (those "digital" numbers in the top left pane to the left (input) and right (output) of the fx little slider).

Possibly the above doesn't help you. But then I really need to know what it exactly is you try to do. So, what do you want to play, what are the related settings (mentioned in this post) and what is your DAC or interface to it (what does it allow for etc.). Then I can hopefully help further.

24/192 recording on the pc

in the upper left side of the XXhighend is a panel with two blue displays, one says 24 and to the right of that is one that says 16. Below that are two red displays. both say 192000. DAC settings in center pane is set to DAC is 24bits 192.0K

This is the culprit and the reason that the 192000 below it shows red (red is wrong, blue is OK). But :


This doesn't fit with that. So, are you sure about this one ? I merely expect that you have chosen 16/192 there.

It shouldn't be related, but for easier thinking on my side : you didn't activate "96/192 Only" in the settings, did you ? if so, deactivate that and see what happens.
Otherwise I have no clue; never seen it, never heard heard of it. And/thus I can't imagine this is a bug somewhere.

Notice that this 24/16 you see must show as 24/32. This is depicted by the "DAC Needs" setting, which should be at 32 for this setting. It can also be 24, depending on your DAC. 16 is not in order, unless you told the "DAC Is" is 16/xxx - which you did not as it seems ...

I got it to play 24 bit music. But I am running into exceptions:

Divide by zero and if I remember correctly an illegal cast
string to integer (or double).

Can it be that this is related to Normalizing Volume ?
So, to be sure, deactivate this button (top left in the left pane).
