The 'Gallery' function will organise your music folders spread across various disc drives and allow you to merge them into one entity(s) if you wish. The 'Gallery' is in essense a collection of pointers to where the files are physically stored, and once the gallery is created, you no longer have to remember where your different files are stored. Some users have set up folders within the gallery to denote the different music genres, eg, Country & Western, Jazz, Rock, Classical etc. When you add new albums to your drives, you then decide which of the genres each belongs in , and point to those gallery folders when you create the actual gallery entry for each new album. A search through the forum will assist. It may also be prudent to "map" your network drives X: & Y: so they always appear on reboot of your system. Cheers for now and welcome to the forum :) Russ Title: Re: Brand new user Post by: PeterSt on January 29, 2012, 07:26:41 am Quote Edit: Solved...1. Peter I didn't use the nudemo button at all - I just saw a place -(cant remember where it was) that said activation key - that worked. Cheers for now and welcome to the forum :) Russ Yes - Drives already stay mapped. Are you talking about the gallery that's labeled: Nice Stuff Gallery, and Demo Gallery under Data Locations in the settings area? If so It doesn't seem to allow me to do much. This is what I have so far under data locations: Music Root: Y:\Music Data Folder: C:\XXData Intermediate Files Folder: X:\Music (I don't know what this is) Nice Stuff Gallery: Y:\coverart Demo Gallery: ??? (I don't know what this is) Naming Scheme: ArtisName\AlbumName Please advise.. Title: Re: Brand new user Post by: PeterSt on January 30, 2012, 08:36:42 am Music Root: Y:\Music This is what will show default in the Library Area (middle pane after selecting the 2nd button above that middle pane. It can be an "Original Location" (physical music files are there) or a Gallery (meta data which just holds in folders). Data Folder: C:\XXData A technical thing for internal stuff. Can be explicitly denoted mainly because it can spread over Dual Boot installs. So, now this data remains. It e.g. holds your settings. Intermediate Files Folder: X:\Music A SQ related too hard to explain and use folder for intermediate conversion results. Better don't use it. Btw, 0.9z-7 will have new applications around this. Important (as I realize now) : Never denote this the same as your Original Location (what you just did) because you may loose your original files. May. It's just a dangerous thing. Same for Galleries. So, better have something like X:\IntermediateFiles. Demo Gallery: ??? (I don't know what this is) A Gallery Structure for all you put in there during Unattended Playback (no User Intergace) with the Alt-Z remote command. This is for the currently playing track. So, you havea listening session, and suddenly you hear something so good that you want it preserved into a Gallery Folder to later find/play back. Nice Stuff Gallery: Y:\coverart Same as Demo, but more for on the album level, and just "Nice Stuff"; your permanent shelf of nice stuff. Naming Scheme: ArtisName\AlbumName Never mind this one for now. It's a half-job anyway, and should be more complete in the due 0.9z-7. ... but which bring me to the subject of that you might start to read the ToolTips. I think it is all in there (in elementary form). Hope this helped a little ... And how do I get them to show up? |
