Title: 9z-06 Unattended Problems Post by: Scroobius on September 29, 2011, 09:49:50 pm Hi Peter,
I have not really used Unattended much before but today I have been trying to use it (in anticipation of NOS USB :)) and I have many of the problems I used to have when I tried it before - but that was a long time ago with a laptop / Vista later W7 and a much older version of XX. So here is a summary: 1. First Unattended mode works OK provided I do not use HotKey volume up & down controls. If I do XX stops and locks up. Alt X works fine but it is the volume controls that cause the problems. I have not tried any of the other HotKey controls. 2. I have just used XX in Unattended and used AltU which again locked XX. I then rebooted the PC. But even after a reboot XX did not work properly - I could play an album OK but if I stopped and played another album when I pressed play no music would play. I had to press "Off" to unload Engine3 and then press play again which worked. I ended up having to completely reinstall XX again to get it working properly. 3. Hot keys for volume work fine in Attended mode i.e. I use Alt U / D and with XX on the desktop watch the volume slider moving up and down as it should do. 4. The Wallpaper function mostly does not work. If I go into Unattended wallpaper does not display - sometimes after running for a while in unattended it will appear maybe when the track changes. But mostly the wallpaper does not display. The above problems occur whether or not the o/s is minimised and the problems occur regardless of whether services are switched to go on or off in unattended. Hey, you seem to be having the problem the opposite of others ! Or at least it is quite uncommon to have Alt-u/d working at Attended ... G'day Paul, do you have the show "OSD Text" active ? in my case I found I have to have that function enabled for the front/back coverart to appear consistently. Without it enabled the coverart never appeared until the second track commenced. As it stands currently, I get an occassional missed update going between tracks. ie. the track number and name doesn't get updated in the 'back' graphic, but it usually corrects itself in the following track. Give that a try if you haven't got the OSD Text enabled. Cheers, Russ Title: Re: 9z-06 Unattended Problems Post by: Scroobius on September 30, 2011, 03:16:43 pm Hey Russ
Thanks that has sorted the problem and what you describe is exactly what was happening to me. Thanks Paul Title: Re: 9z-06 Unattended Problems Post by: PeterSt on September 30, 2011, 03:53:55 pm Wow, but I didn't know that one ...
Great thanks ! Thanks Paul :good: Perhaps Pierre can make use of this info. It 'seems' to be a timing issue of some sort on initial start. Your CPU is certainly a roadrunner compared to my ol' cayote, so you would think you have enough horsepower to get things going. If anyone else experiences a similar scenario please chime in. Cheers, Russ Title: Re: 9z-06 Unattended Problems Post by: Calibrator on September 30, 2011, 04:07:22 pm Wow, but I didn't know that one ... Great thanks ! Peter It was mentioned briefly in this post just after z-6 release. ( http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=1795.msg18262#msg18262 ). I picked up on it from a hint from another user. Alzheimer's acting up again ? :old: Cheers, Russ Title: Re: 9z-06 Unattended Problems Post by: PeterSt on September 30, 2011, 04:15:46 pm Hey Russ - It is good that you "over responded", because now I'm sure I got it wrong today :
Quote for the front/back coverart to appear consistently I read this as "and you have to (set) Show the Back, or otherwise ... But I know now you didn't mean this at all, and it is just my wrong reading. Funnily enough I also never got the merits of that other post you just linked to, because that was in the heat of some battle, and I guess I never really sat down to get what you meant by the OSD Text thing. So ... I can sufficiently say that I only got *that* one just minutes ago. And it even makes sense !! Both OSD Text and Wallpaper are dealt with by different "triggers", but one (OSD Text) might trigger the other (Wallpaper) as well. So, now suddenly it is a matter of looking into what happens if that one does not trigger the other, and how it can be that when it's on its own it works "less". Can I say Thanks again ? Peter Title: Re: 9z-06 Unattended Problems Post by: Calibrator on September 30, 2011, 04:35:33 pm I'm just trying to do my bit for the cause Pete :) I kinda figured there was some trigger points that must have changed going to z-6, and hopefully you can find a way to tie in the different process streams together so they all arrive at the same time point together, or rather, in the manner you expect.
It would be nice to not have that OSD showing  Apunno paye yan, Russ Title: Re: 9z-06 Unattended Problems Post by: PeterSt on October 01, 2011, 01:25:21 pm Solved for 0.9z-6-1.
Title: Re: 9z-06 Unattended Problems Post by: Scroobius on October 01, 2011, 02:20:17 pm Strange but hotkey volume controls are now working in unattended. So all seems to be working now :) P Title: Re: 9z-06 Unattended Problems Post by: PeterSt on October 01, 2011, 04:44:28 pm Any idea what changed Paul ?
Title: Re: 9z-06 Unattended Problems Post by: Scroobius on October 02, 2011, 01:58:05 am Hi Peter - The only thing that is different is the OSD text button. In other words now with OSD Text on the volume control via AltU/D works fine.
I just went back to "OSD Text" off and tried to replicate the volume control problem in unattended but it was OK (this time) but I get other problems. The problems are a bit random but they seem to occur when wallpaper should have launched but has not. This time Alt X failed to bring back the interface. I ended up killing XX in Task Manager but had to reboot to get everything working properly again. The only thing I can say for sure is that with OSD Text on I do not get any problems everything in Unattended seems to work OK and that includes other Alt commands they all seem OK. I will try again tomorrow when I have some spare time but it does seem that my problems occur when wallpaper should have launched but has not. P Title: Re: 9z-06 Unattended Problems Post by: PeterSt on October 02, 2011, 09:30:51 am No Paul, don't spend any further time on this please.
The OSDText thing is solved (here) anyway, and probably it causes the other things as well. Thank you vety much for your time ! Peter |
