Title: RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A GOOD MONITOR
Post by: juanpmar on September 08, 2011, 01:33:29 pm
Iīd like some recommendations for a good monitor of around 22/23" with USB ports to connect the mouse and keyboard to the monitor and this way have the PC with the less possible connections.

Would be a good idea a multi-touch monitor?.

What would be the best way to connect the monitor to the PC looking for the less interaction possible with XXHighEnd and the new NOS1 USB?

Juan

Using 0.9z-6 maybe. With that, the monitor will be off anyway.
Well, if you want.

Peter, could you explain it a little further please?.

I know also that with the NOS1 USB we wonīt need the monitor because of the screen in the Dac. But even in such a case a monitor near the listening place could be more comfortable.

Gerard, thanks for your recommendation, your monitor looks very interesting but Iīd like one in a vertical position near the listening place, I canīt find your model though. Could the multi-touch technology have some inconvenience in relation to XXHighEnd /Nos1 USB?.

Hello Juan,

Let's do an educated guess !

Take a look at the right leg of your NOS1. What do you think of that screen will be for ?  A tiny screen to be used as I/O device for your music PC. I guess Peter incorporates the code to fire up this feature in z-6 after it slept for a long time.

Just a guess

Sadly, no Praphan. But 0.9z-6 will be up soon. All will be in the Relase Notes.

Juan,

I see no functionality in "multi touch". At least not at this moment.

About USB vs. a normal video card (which is undoubtedly your consideration) ... I really don't know. I think you really should dive into this (you could say that I should ... :yes:);

With 0.9z-6 you can order to shut off the monitor during playback. Regardless OS activities for sending out data to a monitor, this means that the video card will electrically do less (up to nothing, but this depends). For USB ? I'm not sure. But undoubtedly there will be differences.

When the monitor is ON, I wonder whether USB would be the best choice. I tend to think not.
This is not important assuming the monitor will be Off during playback, but which may not be your choice.

Might you want to compare (listening) always do this with the Desktop Services being shut off. Otherwise all is moot.

I usually turn off the monitor after selecting the tracks Iīm going to listen, I really canīt tell if that has any influence in the sound. I just do it in an instinctive way thinking that as less work for OS the better for the sound

But:

- If I have the mouse and keyboard connected to an USB port in the monitor, how can I bring XXHighEnd alive, in case I want to, if the monitor is shut off?.

- If I have the mouse and keyboard connected to an USB port in the mb, would this have any influence on the NOS1 USB?. Are the different USB ports in the mb totally independent from each other?.
