Title: Problem with Unattended 0.9z4-1
Post by: SlickenSmooth on February 22, 2011, 07:06:21 pm
When I go for unattended playback I get the message that it's stopping my services and that "when done this message dissapears". Problem is it does not dissapear and Alt-x won't bring my xxhighend back so I have to hit the power switch to reboot.

My Autohotkeys DO work when I use them at attended.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Hi there !

Maybe it's time to fill out your signature ... because, sorry, I really forgot what system you have. I recall a laptop though ?

Question is : how long are you waiting ?
But to answer all questions, just go to TaskManager, Services and sort them on Running/Stopped (running on top). There you can see if Services are still disappearing, or whether nothing happens anymore.
Don't forget to also watch your Processes. So, once all Services have gone the Processes are in turn.

I hope this will get you (ok, us) somewhere ...
Peter

Hi Peter,

Just put up my signature!

When I try to get to my taskmanager when the unattended process is going, it gives me an error message. My OS is not responding and it says I need to press ESC or reboot. I''ve waited lik 7-8 minutes and it starts shutting down my virusscanner, Wifi, then the desktop gets empty and I wait and wait and wait but nothing happens.

What about starting TaskManager in advance ? that should work. Or at least that is not killed ...

Please try to find what's happening, just so I can solve it.
And, as the ToolTips show, once we know what's causing this (which just may be one thing killed too much for your laptop), you can include it to not stop. Btw, this includes your virus scanner, when you think this is necessary (but with your LAN shut off ... why).

Also notice that you can easily copy-paste *everything* in the exclude lists - from the XX log file. And (ToolTips), anything is easily to exclude for trials by just putting an asterisk behind it Like (MyVirusScanner*) <- this now again *will* stop, but when causing anomalies it's back in no-time by removing the * again.

I am not saying this is all intended, but the only way to get our fingers behind what's happening. At least I tried all to make this as convenient as possible (like the copy-paste thing).

Peter

and I wait and wait and wait but nothing happens.

While the message "please wait" is showing, and after having waited a good minute or two, hit the "Okay" tab on the message and it will disappear. Then hit alt x and XX should reappear. Hit play again and this time the "please wait" message will disappear on its own. That's the way it worked for me when I first tried it last night.

Then, if you ticked the "do not start" button in the setup, don't forget to hit "alt p" to get the music to start. Last night, several times, I was staring at the screen waiting for music before remembering to hit "alt P".

If all is right, this works a little differently :

At OK, the message just disappears. Don't ask me why I made it like that ...

At Cancel the whole process will be aborted and XXHighEnd comes back.

When the message has gone, XXHighEnd has gone, ready for Alt-P.

When the Message is still there, Alt-X won't work (because XXHighEnd is actually still there), BUT, it will come back when the message disappeared if only this is within some time (IIRC 20 seconds). In such a case anomalies may occur when you did *not* set "Do not start playback at all). Not sure. It could be treated as just a normal Alt-X when music is playing.

So, clicking OK followed by Alt-X - XXHighEnd coming up again, is or coincidence because it just was finished, or it happened after these 20 seconds ...

Okay, I just saw in taskmanager that 24 processes and 24 services cannot be stopped somehow. Does this mean I can only use attended playback ony my laptop?  :(

No, not at all.

For sure Services and Processes will remain, so this is not the - or a problem. The problem will be that something will be "crahsing" inside and next blows up your laptop. That is, *if* that happens in the first place. So, with TaskManager just being there - you looking at it. Does all stop to respond or move (like in the Performance Tab) ?
Or will the lot be hanging on the shutdown of any of the Services/ Processes ?

Btw, why don't you post your XX log file ?
Activate Logging (bottom of Settings), try it again, and at a next boot (assuming that is necessary) just grab the newest log file (in the TemporaryData subfolder to your XX folder). I may see something there ...

Peter

No, taskmanager is not freezing. It keeps on working, including the other tabs.

I will post the logfile next which is on my other laptop.

Ah. I think that would be normal. Ctrl-Alt-Del is still from the old ages, and anticipates on you wanting to shut down the system (reboot actually). Never mind options "just are" to start TaskMannager.
Use Ctrl-shift-Esc instead ...
(which I didn't try in this stage, but I think it will work, and just will start TaskManager).

Ok, awaitening the log file.
But you have this on two laptops, right ?

Thanks.
Well, it seems clear that the mcshield Service won't allow to let kill itself. This is mcAfee stuff. So, put it in the exclude list (the left one) like :

(mcshield)

and try again.

Or shut it off in the first place. That is, I don't know of any virus scanner which doesn't hold up your system everywhere, and mcAfee is no exception. But that is up to you.

Let me know what happens,
Peter

I just posted the logfile see  :naughty:

Ok, I guess my computer knowledge is from the stone ages hahaha.

Put (mfevtp) there too. Also part of mcAfee. If it works, remove this one again. Ok ? done. Doesn't work again, put it back.

Nope, still doesn't work when I fill in the brackets.

See logfile.

OK, so I put all the McAffee stuff in the list on services and processes. Now, the message that XX is stopping services and please wait dissapears after a while. Still when I hit Alt-P or Alt-X nothing happens. My hotkeys are working though.

I'm almost there hopefully! Here's the latest logfile

What happens if you let run the "Remainder" Services (so deactivate that button), and change NOTHING else further ?
(meaning : does your Alt-P ever work ?)

Title: Re: Problem with Unattended 0.9z4-1
Post by: SlickenSmooth on February 23, 2011, 12:02:18 pm
Everything dissapears.. But no Alt-P does not work. The hotkeys seem to only work when I do attended playback

My Autohotkeys DO work when I use them at attended.

It may be a matter of wording, but your AuytoHotkey (!!) does not work.

See here : AutoHotkey Install (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=724.0).

Hello,

I am also having problems using the Unattended playback option. The message: Services will be stopped will not go away. If I click on "OK" the message will dissapear but playback will not be started. My hotkeys are working as I can get XX back with ALT-X.

Here is my logfile.

Maybe someone can help me out?

Hi there !

I had quite another text in here earlier, but I scratched it for now. Somehow what I see in the log file is confusing, and it can be because of you pressing OK. So :

Can you please do this again, and from what I see in the log file, wait 8 minutes before you grab the log file. So, don't click anything. Just Play, and 8 minutes later grab the log file and post it again. Can you do that ?

Thanks,
Peter

PS:

To avoid another cycle of responding to eachother, you can do the same as above, BUT now press Cancel before grabbing the log file. Don't click anything else after that, but be prepared for XX and all coming up again. It is okay to grab the log file after that (coming up stuff).

Hello,

This is the log after I followed your instructions.

Very good thanks.

So, this is BitDefender.
I'll now paste in my earlier scratched text : :)

To me it looks like BitDefender may causing you problems. Of what I can see this is about at least (Updatesrv) and (VSSERV).
You also have anti malware running, and (SBAMSvc) is part of that.

You can do two things in general :
- Don't run this always ever slowing down stuff in the first place (this is completely up to you of course);
- Prevent from it shutting down by obtaining it in the excluded list. Notice that you must find them all, and you should search for them in the "Stopped" list (see log file !).

In this case you can see in your log file that it is (bdagent) causing the problems. So, put that in the Excluded list, and *maybe* that is all. Does it still hang the next time ? just look in the log file. It is not *that* easy, because anomalies may occur just the same.

Regards,
Peter

PS: Small warning : You will see two sets of "Stopped Services" etc. in the log file, while the second list of such a group really is about Processes. Just a bug in the log data. So don't get confused ...

Another PS:

Now we know it is really something "hanging", you really don't need to wait for so long (8 minutes) with a next attempt. Something like 90 seconds could be normal though, depending on the PC and what is all running. Just try to get the feel of that.

It seems that the unattended playback is working. I have excluded all services and processes of bitdefender including: bdagent.

However, I am getting BSOD after reverting back to attended mode via ALT-X.

A couple of times I have got the message: STOP: 0X0000001E and: usbport.sys. Maybe it is trying to shut down another usb device connected to my pc? For instance, my Razer mouse? Though I must say that my mouse is working after using the attended mode using ALT-X again.

Note, the BSOD is not instant, I can work with the pc for a couple of minutes. After a couple of minutes, the BSOD shows up.

Btw, this is my setup:

Intel core i3 550
4GB DDR3 memory
2TB HDD
Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate Version (no SP1)

I am using a modified M2tech Hiface MK2 connected to a Dacmagic feeding my Decware CSP2+ amplifier.

This is the log after a succesful unattended play.

I don't have much time to look in your log file right now, but of course it will be something similar. But what ?
What I would do is give all the Stopped Service names to Google, and quickly (or briefly) find out what they are for. Is it somehow USB related ? exclude it.
Remember, you can just paste the whole list from the log file in the excluded list. Then all should keep on working. Putting an asterisk behind a name - like (AeLookupSvc*) - effectively removes it from the exclude list, so you can more easily try things or groups.

Btw, am I completely crazy, or did you change that second group of "Services" into "Processes" in the log file (for the wording) ?

Title: Re: Problem with Unattended 0.9z4-1
Post by: PeterSt on March 20, 2011, 11:48:29 pm
Another method could be to look in the windows event viewer (Start - Run - eventvwr) for errors. But careful, many errors may be there, all "on purpose". But they may be about .exe files, which are your Processes. So, put such an errored process name (without the .exe) in the Excluded list for Processes.
This is not (or may not be) all much straight forward, and may need some "interpretation" which is not really your skill ...

It seems that, after checking my hardware, I get no BSOD. I have been testing the unattended mode for some time now. For the moment, it is working fine! I would like to thank you for your time and effort.

Much appreciated!
