Title: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: firedog on November 20, 2010, 11:08:18 am PC is Vista 64bit, 8MB Ram
installed per instructions on web site When I click on deskop icon, I get failure message, with following detail: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: XXEngine3.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 4cc42c09 Fault Module Name: KERNEL32.dll Fault Module Version: 6.0.6002.18005 Fault Module Timestamp: 49e038c0 Exception Code: e0434f4d Exception Offset: 0001e124 OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: fd00 Additional Information 2: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160 Additional Information 3: fd00 Additional Information 4: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160 Anyone know what this means and how to fix it? Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: PeterSt on November 20, 2010, 11:25:58 am Hi there !
First off, thanks for posting this instead of giving up. :) Now, first question : what did you put under that desktop icon ? To me it looks like it could be XXEngine3.exe ! And it should be XXHighEnd.exe. If the latter is the case anyway, at this moment I can only think of something being wrong with the sound device driver. This is a long shot though. Can you tell me (or show me) which device you selected in the Settings Area ? Thanks, Peter Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: firedog on November 20, 2010, 12:22:26 pm Hi Peter-
Thanks for your quick reply. The icon/link isn't the problem. I attempted to use spdif output to KS (engine4), non KS spdif (engine3) output for my soundcard (M-Audio Delta 192); and the standard windows output to the onboard Realtek sound device (engine3). Same result with all of them The program runs onscreen (after appearance of with failure message), but doesn't play anything when I try to play it. I get the same error message as above every time I click on the icon and try to run the program. I successfully run KS and the other outputs from Foobar. Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: PeterSt on November 20, 2010, 12:56:38 pm Ok, thanks.
In your current XX folder (where the XXHighEnd.exe etc. resides) there's an SFS.ini file with on the first line 11 for data. Please change that to 00 (you can edit it with NotePad). Next, in the Settings Area there's the Split File Size (SFS); set that to 60. Now try again. Assumed it now works, you can set the SFS.ini to 11 again. Assumed it still works, higher that 60 until it goes wrong again. With this I anticipate on an out of memory somewhere. If this doesn't help it must be something else and we must see further. But let me know ... Peter Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: firedog on November 20, 2010, 02:31:06 pm Hi-
Tried you suggestions. Didn't work. But getting slightly different error message now: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: XXEngine3.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 4cc42c09 Fault Module Name: mscorlib.ni.dll Fault Module Version: 2.0.50727.4206 Fault Module Timestamp: 4bf4c743 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00231f02 OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: fd00 Additional Information 2: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160 Additional Information 3: fd00 Additional Information 4: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160 Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: PeterSt on November 20, 2010, 02:46:08 pm So, now I'm puzzled ...
Can it be so that you run with a heavily tweaked OS, like with eliminated services ? And if so, how easy would it be for you to let it run normally (just for trial !) ? Notice that the C5 you have now, is very rare (for me) and somehow indicates things go out of (memory) boundaries. Never heard / seen it before. If you have the services normally running, would you care to try 0.9z-2 ? (don't go back further) and let me know ... Thanks for your time on this ! Peter PS: If you always try it with the same track, please try another from another album too. Suppose something it wrong with that track ... (though rare again) Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: firedog on November 20, 2010, 03:27:06 pm Hi-
Do have some tweaks on the system. Took them off and rebooted. Still failed, with error below. Peter, are there specific services you want me to check and make sure they are working? With version 9z-3 I got this error: roblem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: XXEngine3.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 4cc42c09 Fault Module Name: mscorlib.ni.dll Fault Module Version: 2.0.50727.4206 Fault Module Timestamp: 4bf4c743 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00231f02 OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: fd00 Additional Information 2: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160 Additional Information 3: fd00 Additional Information 4: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160 With version 9z-2 I got this error: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: XXEngine3.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 4c223db8 Fault Module Name: mscorlib.ni.dll Fault Module Version: 2.0.50727.4206 Fault Module Timestamp: 4bf4c743 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00231f02 OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: fd00 Additional Information 2: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160 Additional Information 3: fd00 Additional Information 4: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160 Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: PeterSt on November 20, 2010, 03:50:26 pm No services that I really know of, especially not if 0.9z-2 does the same ... but :
With 0.9z-2 you have the opportunity to post the log files (as attachment here, see "Additional Options" at the left bottom when posting). 0.9z-3 lacks one of the log files. So please turn on Log Activities (at the bottom in the Settings Area), let it go wrong one time, and with the message still on the screen grab the XX, X3 and X3PB log files from the TemporaryData folder under your XX folder (it will be there at the time if all is right). I hope I can see something from there. Remember, 0.9z-2. :scratching: Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: PeterSt on November 20, 2010, 03:52:52 pm Btw, did you turn off UAC ? (you have I think, because otherwise you'd be having problems in an earlier stage)
Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: firedog on November 20, 2010, 04:24:03 pm Sending log file. Only see XX log file, don't see anyh X3 or X3PB log files. The UI doesn't appear till after I close the error message, so it isn't logging anything else.
Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: PeterSt on November 20, 2010, 05:03:29 pm In your XX folder there may be a XXKSDevices.dat after that error appears ... If so, what is the contents ? But I Wonder ... Quote The icon/link isn't the problem. I attempted to use spdif output to KS (engine4), non KS spdif (engine3) output for my soundcard (M-Audio Delta 192); and the standard windows output to the onboard Realtek sound device (engine3). This tells me that in the end you can normally start XXHighEnd (correct ?) and that you can select the Sound Device in the Settings Area. But can you really drop down that devices list without getting the same error for XXEngine3.exe ? I mean, what happens at the moment you perform that drop down should be exactly the same as when you start XXHighEnd (XXEngine3.exe is started to find out the KS devices). And if at that moment that error is not there, what does the XXKSDevices.dat file contain right after you performed that drop down ? (please answer all of my questions ... like the UAC one from before, so I can be sure about the answers hence what is happening) Peter Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: firedog on November 20, 2010, 06:01:18 pm In your XX folder there may be a XXKSDevices.dat after that error appears ... I then close the error message box and the program interface comes up. When I open the tools and try to access the devices list, the error message comes up again. But after one or two more tries (closing the error message before each try) it then opens and lets me change the settings. I can also see my music files properly ordered in the library window. But nothing happens if I try "play". Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: PeterSt on November 20, 2010, 06:12:56 pm Ehm, so what ended up in XXKSDevices.dat after starting up XXHighEnd and the error is there ? (which is what I also asked I think)
Next, could you try to find a line in that drop down thing ? I mean, suppose you keep on clicking that drop down (also after it worked once), does it keep on working ? is it one out of two etc. ? is it random ? Again, this is very strange and I never saw it before, especially not if it *can* work obviously. Can it be so that you have the device in use for recording ? Forget about click Play for now ... If you're fed up with it, let me know. I hope you can keep on going a bit ... Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: PeterSt on November 20, 2010, 06:16:32 pm One other thing ... Assumed your Delta is causing this, you could disable it in Device Management (not at the speaker icon !), and if then the error stays away I'll know it must be something about that device. Or, if it is caused by any of the other sound devices you have, what happens if you disable *those* ?
Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: firedog on November 20, 2010, 06:47:42 pm okay, I disabled drivers for "Total Recorder" software device and the error stopped occurring. But still when program loads, nothing happens when I click "play".

Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: firedog on November 20, 2010, 06:57:05 pm here's the other error I get
Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: PeterSt on November 20, 2010, 06:59:04 pm This should be real ... (never mind Foobar etc. plays it). Can you try another album ? Preferrably one you ripped yourself or FLACed yourself (a bootleg doesn't look like that much :)).
Or try a .WAV. We'll get there ! Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: firedog on November 20, 2010, 07:32:44 pm Sorry, I chose that flac file at random. But it does the same thing with every flac file.
Also just created wav file and tried it, will include screenshots of error messages. Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: firedog on November 20, 2010, 07:37:07 pm Sorry, I chose that flac file at random. But it does the same thing with every flac file. Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: PeterSt on November 20, 2010, 07:44:47 pm Well, you are a record holder now ... two of these things from one person on one day ... haha
You could try whether "Copy to XX Drive" (Settings) Yes or No makes a difference, especially for the .WAV file. But again I really don't get this (and this really doesn't happen often !). The only thing I see is that your music is on the same drive as XX is. I currently wouldn't know how or what, but can you copy an album to drive C: (or anything) and then try to play it ? Notice : to be sure in situations like this that you're not using old files or locations, please use that button with the cross (X) on it left under the Search button from your last screenshot - before pressing Play. After the above, best would be to try a .WAV and NOT Copy to XXDrive. If that gives the same messages I'm going to eat something like a tie or so. And have a beer. Sorry for your troubles ... PS: Yes, the sound engine won't matter here. Btw, whether it starts to work or not, the XX log file would be convenient for a not working case. Title: Re: version 9.3-z install failure Post by: PeterSt on November 20, 2010, 07:46:49 pm A disk full would be a normal reason for these errors ... :nea:
