Title: XXHighEnd 0.9f : Hick ups in the sound with engine #3 Post by: JohanZ on July 22, 2007, 11:23:58 pm Hello Peter,
Sometimes I lost the controle with mine 8" touch-screen (a known problem, without a solution). So yesterday I decided to connect a mouse to a USB port on mine PC. Suddenly I noticed, when I moved the mouse on the screen during XX music playback above XX fields and track titles, I got hick ups in the sound. When I changed to Engine #2 it all functioning ok, no hick ups anymore when I moved the mouse. I am using Vista Business edition and XX 0.9f with engine #3. I have changed without a result, the playerprio in XX and the performance/priority in Vista. Any solution? Regards, Johan Title: Re: XXHighEnd 0.9f : Hick ups in the sound with engine #3 Post by: PeterSt on July 23, 2007, 01:50:25 am Hi Johan,
When the hickups happen, do you see the disk activity light flicker at the same time ? Supposing you have USB connections on the front and on the back, does it change things when you use the front or the back ? Quote When the hickups happen, do you see the disk activity light flicker at the same time ? Disk C: has no disk activity indicator!Quote ........., does it change things when you use the front or the back ? When I switched to another USB2 port or I connect a PS/2 mouse the problem is solved. What caused this problem? It is only present with Engine#3 and a specific USB2 port near the USB2 DAC connection.Regards, Johan Title: Re: XXHighEnd 0.9f : Hick ups in the sound with engine #3 Post by: PeterSt on July 23, 2007, 11:07:21 pm It was just a hunch ... however :
Quote and a specific USB2 port near the USB2 DAC connection. I thought you use SPDIF ? (see your signature). If you use USB to connect your DAC it's even logical that this happens ! Quote I thought you use SPDIF ? You advised me to use the USB2 input on mine DAC! (signature changed)Quote .........it's even logical that this happens ! Good You be some more specific?Regards, Johan Title: Re: XXHighEnd 0.9f : Hick ups in the sound with engine #3 Post by: PeterSt on July 24, 2007, 12:04:56 am ... but I didn't see it in your signature.. But it still was a hunch. Maybe I'm good at that, hehe.
It's because of the different means of interfacing the two USB processes use; same as that it's not allowed to use USB storage together with an USB DAC. Btw, I don't know anymore that - and why I advised USB (probably because you only have an SPDIF interface on the motherboard only ?), but generally ... use the one which sounds best. Of course this depends on the DAC just as well (and you know best for what is which on the DAC :)). |
