Got Nuance - Dragon NaturallySpeaking Speech Recognition Software :dancing:

Not even the best set-up, using an old headphone as microphone.

First of all this does not works for xx (well, not properly), i have noticed that all (or most) other apps work fast and responsive.
Something is wrong with the GUI of xx its not yet finished I guess.
Well it does do play, stop, pause, next etc.
But xx crashes on wrong commands.
When the GUI and his functions and names are proper adressed as for example MPC or foobar anything is possible.
Because the voice recognition will also open the functions in the window itself, every button and tab has a name, right?, just call them.

For eg. (I should film this otherwise you dont believe)

When I say "open explorer" it opens it, when i say "open hd-movies 1" its opens the folder, then i say "open TERMINATOR 1" and movie starts in MPC,
then i say "skip forward" it goes to the next chapter in the movie, haha
This is fucking great.
In MPC i say "options" it opens the options box, it can even detect the several functions by there names and check and uncheck checkboxes
This is all straight out of the box, you just have to read a long and boring text to benchmark your voice and words and all is set.
There are loads and loads of ways to make it even better, but it just works already !!
Took me an hour, now i am t a l k i n g to my screen and learing my PC new words, like "open XXHighend"
maybe change it to "Phasure" afterall, hehe, sounds better!

So what we need is a small wireless microphone that is short ranged hence doesn't pick up too much of music noise. When you speak to it from close distance it will pickup the commands.

BUT

Before proceeding on this too much, we'd better check first to what sense this influences SQ. I mean, I can imagine that this needs a kind of "heavy polling" program that listens to the commands. And *that* wouldn't be the best.

Do you know about that little (iPhone ?) app that listens to the music playing for 10 seconds, next comes up with the album name (it really works !!) plus a list of albums with similar music ?
So Roy, if you have your mic still connected, you may try to find that little wonder and see whether it can get to work on a PC. Next I can build it in as a kind of search routine for your next album to play ...

I don't know the name of that app, but can get to it when everybody is awake here.

Just terminate Dragon during playback of xx, nothing comes between me and SQ.
you dont need it, use IR remote to do for eg. an occasionally skip track.
You can open Dragon with your IR remote too, so..................

But think more like selecting next album by voice, this is were it can do its job best.

When I play music its mostly pretty loud, so.........have to try it with a proper headset.

I dont use apple or iphone so................

In the mean time we are testing some PC applications for this. So, never mind for now. I think it could be fun, but it depends how those applications find similar albums (or tracks). If done via a database it won't be worth much (as how I think), but if done via second best close matching of the audio data itself, *then* it would be the best (like a slower blues will give you another slow blues, which never will be in any database).
