Title: CD Burning in XX
Post by: boleary on June 28, 2010, 01:39:56 pm
I know its been mentioned before that there will be  cd burning capability in XX. Is that still the intention? Sure would be cool cause all my playlists are now being made in XX. Patience, of course, being understood.

Actually, it is. But don't ask me when I will do it.
At this moment I am finalizing "normal" stuff in XX and working on the Phasure NOS1, and the only thing left (apart from bugs) would be the ripping.

2 weeks ago my wife wanted all the CDs out of the room (yeah, modern times :)), and she offered to ripp all which weren't ripped so far. So I told her "wait a bit, because in due time I can do t myself, and it will be 10 times faster at least" (and good).
And so she is waiting ... (only a couple of 100 left to do).

You said *burning*, right ? No, burning isn't going to be in there !
Ripping is.

Yeah, I meant burning but ripping is good too. All those playlists end up in the car as I travel the country.

No problem Roy, jokes are good too! Hey are you guys taking the World Cup? Good luck.

Hi Peter,

Just wanted to give you some input on ripping, which I have gathered over the last year. I use dBPoweramp as my ripper. Initially I was ripping at the maximum speed as suggested by dBpoweramp, then I attempted to rip at lower speeds (as low as 1x) & I can assure you that the SQ with lower ripping speed is significantly better than higher speed.

As long as you can proove that both rips have a different result for the bytes in the file ... of course !

But I have the hunch that you are going to say that the files are equal ...
:)

Hi Peter,

The files are equal but they sound different. I dont know why, but this is reality. Try it out & see for yourself.

Ha, *now* we're talking !
Of course this is not new, and *of course* I can't believe it as a software engineer, but I do anyway ... In other words, as long as this would really be true, it would be a nice "follow up" for XXHighEnd, right ? I wouldn't even care how it emerges, as long as I could have it under control.
And not to forget, I am able to measure the differences at the analogue side, so at least I'd have a means to check what is happening for the better or the worse.

It also brings good motivation to build this measurement stuff into the Phasure NOS1 DAC, which seems 100% doable to me. And for those who recall it : with a random DAC/Setup these measurements can't work. So, *if* I get this to work with the Phasure NOS1, the measurement software hasn't been written for nothing, plus those owning it can measure their cables ...
Haha.

Allright. I am finishing some stuff for 0.9z-3, and I guess this will be my next little project.
