Title: 0.9z Install problems Post by: Tony S on May 27, 2010, 01:40:19 am I am having problems installing the new version. The first attempt went fine in demo mode then I clicked on some button in the software, at some point getting familiar with the new layout :), and it hosed up the computer. I ended up having to do a hard boot. I then brought 0.9z back up again successfully and I activated the new version, went to restart XXHighEnd and I get a message saying XXHighEnd had stopped working. I tried another reboot and the same thing. I did a reinstall of the software and the same. Went back to the previous version and it works fine. Maybe I didn't read the instructions well on this new version in my wild frenzy to try it out. Any ideas on where I went wrong?

It's a bit of a wild guess though, so let me know whether that helped. Regards, Peter Title: Re: 0.9z Install problems Post by: PeterSt on May 27, 2010, 12:24:19 pm Hmm ... I was thinking some further, and I might have a clue ...
(make sure XXHighEnd is not running ... oh, yeah, nice remark) Please try this (copied from the Release Notes) : - Open a command window (cmd.exe from the Startbutton - Run). Then go to your XX folder (CD \yourXXFolder) and in there, type these two lines : regsvr32/u isanaloglibrary.ocx regsvr32/u isdigitallibrary.ocx Both commands should be followed by a message that the Unregistering has succeeded. I am not sure at all this will finish allright. But if not, I'd estimate that you are not in the same folder as before, when things started to go wrong. In that case, recreate that folder if it's not there anymore, and copy these two files from the current XX foler into this other folder : isanaloglibrary.ocx isdigitallibrary.ocx and then perform the two regsvr32/u commands again (see above) from within the folder you just put in those two files. Whether or not the commands now succeeded, now startup XXHighEnd again. It should come up with the two similar messages about registering, which if all is right, you have seen at the first time of installing 0.9z (hence running XX for the first time). Let me know whether this helped ... Peter (I'm out for a while now) PS: If the above doesn't help, please post the XX log file of an attempt (in the TemporaryData folder under your XX folder, and after logging is switched on (Settings Area at the bottom)). Thank-you for your help. I followed your instructions and the new 0.9z version is working! Looking forward to a listening session shortly. Thanks again. I have all necessary NET libraries, latest dx, tried removing config file - it doesn't work! Funny thing, because 0.9y8 works fine and sounds better (than optimized W7 + 0.9z2) :) Title: Re: 0.9z Install problems Post by: PeterSt on October 01, 2010, 08:25:55 pm The latter is a good thing to begin with. :)
Ok. Did you see that small install passing by ? If not, there's a setup.exe in the XX folder. Run that. It should be about those ocx files. Here it went fine ... Let me know, Peter Title: Re: 0.9z Install problems Post by: Marcin_gps on October 01, 2010, 08:41:46 pm Yes, it passed. I tried to remove it and install again - nothing changes, still the same error brrrrr
Different folders won't work either. Title: Re: 0.9z Install problems Post by: PeterSt on October 01, 2010, 09:11:32 pm Sh*t. I don't know ...
Still try to focus on this OCX thing. If you uninstall it again, and next just start XX, what happens ? (actually nothing much different because it should come up with that install again; but if it does not, is the error still the same ?) :sorry: Title: Re: 0.9z Install problems Post by: Marcin_gps on October 01, 2010, 09:52:47 pm Same sh*t again
Although, I have a clue - maybe it's related to folder attributes, because I somehow can't untick read-only... Title: Re: 0.9z Install problems Post by: PeterSt on October 01, 2010, 11:09:04 pm What about UAC ? Start as Administrator stuf ??
Title: Re: 0.9z Install problems Post by: Marcin_gps on October 01, 2010, 11:26:45 pm UAC = OFF (tried on and off again - the same)
start as administrator - checked (always run XXHE this way) I'll install 'the most important updates' via windows update and see than - over 100... I remember having similar problem before, but somehow I managed to solve it. Title: Re: 0.9z Install problems - SOLVED Post by: Marcin_gps on October 01, 2010, 11:53:57 pm Oh boy, the problem is solved and I know what's wrong. I went back to 0.9z and it worked fine, then I cleaned that directory and installed 0.9z2 in place of 0.9z - error again. Then I looked in 0.9z archive and compare that archive to 0.9z3 directory and found 2 missing files:
isAnalogLibrary.ocx isDigitalLibrary.ocx I assume that these should be right there after Phasure OCX install is passed, but not in this case. So I copied those files and everything is ok now :) Thanks for your help. Title: Re: 0.9z Install problems Post by: wushuliu on October 01, 2010, 11:54:36 pm I have to uncheck the start as administrator. I have never gotten XX to work when checked. Same error message.

Title: Re: 0.9z Install problems - SOLVED Post by: PeterSt on October 02, 2010, 05:13:42 am Ahaaaa ...
But the problem is not that those files are missing, the problem is that you didn't uninstall them when you wanted to get rid of 0.9z. The actual problem is that you installed 0.9z ... BUT What I learned from it (as it seems), is that when those files are there again (now they are not there on purpose) the problem goes away. Well, maybe. So, just in case, they will be there again in 0.9z-3. Notice that they are there anyway after the install, but in System32. So, all 'n all the problem is created by putting them in a directory A and register them there (like 0.9z required), next throw them out without unregistering, then install (hence register) them again but in Windows32, and now use directory A again for XX. The files are now just missing *there*. In the end my fault because of the clumsey way 0.9z dealt with this. Quote Then I looked in 0.9z archive and compare that archive to 0.9z3 directory and found 2 missing files: Just for others : the 0.9z3 is a typo here. We're still at 0.9z-2. I have to uncheck the start as administrator. I have never gotten XX to work when checked. Same error message. There's a topic floating around somewhere (by Flecko I think), and the solution to this is in there. Ah, here it is : cannot run as administrator anymore (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=1334.msg12139#msg12139). Thanks for your outlay Marcin, and sorry for your troubles. Peter Title: Re: 0.9z Install problems Post by: Marcin_gps on October 02, 2010, 11:35:27 am You misanderstood me. 0.9z2 didn't work in the first place, after series of tries, I went with 0.9z.
Title: Re: 0.9z Install problems Post by: PeterSt on October 02, 2010, 12:26:15 pm In that case you should have done something wrong regarding UAC at your first attempt ... (?)
Then it would be the other way around : Your normal install isn't recognized (in System32), but the install in that "A" directory is. But only of the files are there. Not sure ... Peter Title: Re: 0.9z Install problems Post by: Marcin_gps on October 02, 2010, 12:48:26 pm No, I'm sure I turned UAC first and rebooted PC before attempting to install XXHE. But it's goog that we know it could happen.
