Title: PCI latency timer Post by: Marcin_gps on May 26, 2010, 09:14:28 pm Hi,
Do you know how could I set PCI latency timer from windows level? (Win7) I don't have this option in BIOS. AFAIK PCI latency timer = 128 gives the best results (lowest latency possible) Cheers, Marcin Title: Re: PCI latency timer Post by: PeterSt on May 27, 2010, 12:07:27 am Be very careful with this. And no, 128 is plain wrong. It is about the *relative* settings of it all.
You may try to search the forum for a topic/post where I explain this is more detail, which was at a time this wasn't available for Vista (/W7 and from your post I assume it is now). ChrisV was involved in this, I am sure. Title: Re: PCI latency timer Post by: Marcin_gps on May 27, 2010, 01:09:27 am Sure, but I would like to know its value and maybe change it to see if that helps with lower latencys...
Title: Re: PCI latency timer Post by: PeterSt on May 27, 2010, 07:29:38 am Wait ... this might well cause your problems - coming down to plain instability.
Again Marcin, there is no such thing as "a" value. If you change one value, you must change them all because they are related. E.g., give the vid card the higest prio, and you won't have disk access anymore. These things really can happen. Up till the inability to reboot. Please, the fact that you ask the question a kind of implies you should leave it alone. Haha. You REALLY have to know what you are doing here. Edit : But here you can read a bit more about the general ideas : http://www.theatertek.com/forums/showthread.php?p=58821 Peter PS: I actually wonder ... is there such a tool again for Vista/W7 etc ? ... oh, I read your first post again ... that is actually what you are asking. No I wouldn't know how to do it. Title: Re: PCI latency timer Post by: Marcin_gps on May 27, 2010, 06:26:27 pm I've been experimenting with it on my other PC without problems, but you're right - have to be careful with these things.
