Instead of the Gigabyte EG45M-Ud2H the seller sold me the EG43M-S2H. He made a mistake. As i recall did you say to me that i should NOT get a energy saver MB? The EG43M-S2H is a energy saver.

And what is wrong with those? Should i go try it?

Hi Gerard - No, I said that, but merely about processors. But I think Roy said something like you shouldn't *bother* about it. Maybe I'm wrong though.

What I do recall is that I told about the capacitors living longer when it's less hot in there. But I added to it that by the time they die you will have chosen another board again ...

All 'n all I think it can be beneficial to use less energy (not for the green thing but for SQ). But I am really not into those things. That is, not in the PC area. Others will be better at this, I'm sure !

What would be completely wrong is when the energy saving board would only accept energy saving processors.

Just DONT install any of the applications bundled with the mainboard and get the drivers (except maybe the network card) from the manufacturers.

The main difference between the two mainboards are the lack of the 2oz copper (the ultradurable) and a little slower video chipset (harder to play BD with it).

Thank you for explaining Telstar. It's meant only for music so i will use VGA i think and noting special. And with the applications you mean the cd's that are in the box?

The box shows pic's of  Ultra Durable 3 and 2oz Copper btw.

Anyway, no mobo will force those features on you. Knowing gigabyte biooses, you can disable all of them at hardware level :)
(Indeed i did that on mine).

Well to be honest the plastic were the MB is in  shows those UD3 and 2oz pic's but that could be the wrong plastic from another MB.

Roy really i do not blame you what so ever!  :) The seller said he had the UD2H MB but when i was in the shop i gave me the S2H. He made a mistake he said afterwords to me. He does not have the UD2H but the S2H instead.

Not that big of a problem, but this week i remember something Peter said so i want to be sure i make the right choise before i could not gave it back and buy someting else.

And when you all say it´s a good one i sure will keep it.  :)

I predict it will be better as the MSI mobo you have there in now.
Also i think that the winmate psu unit(s) will make more of a difference.
Better on paper doesnt mean sh*t (poep), without testing or listening.
You can try to locate the right mobo (if you can find it somewhere on the globe).

How will mobo still effect sound quality with NOS1 connected ?
Any earthmoving achievements on this Peter ? (galvanic seperation and psu)

The HD’s and stuff came yesterday. The CPU cooller was to large so that has to go back. The Psu was delivered yesterday also. That was looking good. So only a splitter from one hd power supply to 5 i have to order on ebay.

For the rest everyting is there. ;-)

Btw dont use the setup disc that comes with the mobo, it probably offers you all sorts
of stuff you dont want or need, and they are not the latest drivers anyway.

Just download latest bios with @bios, it installs the new bios automaticly for you (but always check first)
So you dont have to flash anymore.
Download latest mobo and chipset drivers directly from gigabyte also optional is AHCI/RAID drivers.
Gigabyte also has green-lan, so if lan port is not connected it disables itself.

Better come overhere and I will show you all.
Its a fast PC so the install wont take that long, tweaking it takes a bit longer.
Maybe do some psu and temp testing before you put the final build next to your amps.

Sheer impossible. I didn't test (swap) anything for mobos, but I just don't see how it would be possible. The MB shouldn't do/add/contribute anything to anything. You can have a lousy PSU as well. :yes: You will see ...

The speed remains important though.


Hehe, I guess it is time to make a photo of the line up of stuff that is ready now. It will be a nice 20 meter or so row ...

Thats all I needed to know, this is good news actually.
This makes it a whole lot easier to build a dedicated pc, good job.

So Gerard just keep this mobo, no problem.
I made the Winmate PSU choice because of same price range, high(er) efficiency, silence, separate ac/dc.

By the time you are maybe experimenting with pre room-correction, x-overs, filtering, dsp's and such
Then you might (maybe) consider a I7 chip (with a 1366 mobo or later innovations when available)
But before we get this going, that ill be another job. (several years of experimenting)

And then what ? Then you have divided your power into 8 pieces and playback can use 1/8 only. Unless you shut off hyper threading ...
