Title: Some problems with y-6 / Vista / Engine 3 Post by: guytou1 on February 23, 2010, 09:00:09 am My problems ... part 1
An important concern is perhaps that I don't know if I fall back into demo mode or not (I have also this concern with y-5.6). It is not possible to set core appointment. When using Anti image double rate, the memory and processor allocation seems to be much less smooth with y-6 than with y-5.1. And using 96 k only setting and 44.1 k tracks causes many crashes. Using y-6 with arc prediction double rate and 48 k tracks is allmost OK. But there is nothing new... I hope I understood what you mean, so if not, please say so ! Quote An important concern is perhaps that I don't know if I fall back into demo mode or not If you don't know whether you are back into demo mode or not ... IIRC to the right of the Processor Core Appointment choice, there is a small text "Undemo !" if you are in demo mode. If that text doesn't show, all is right. Quote It is not possible to set core appointment. Notice that you must have two cores at least in order to do this. Quote And using 96 k only setting and 44.1 k tracks causes many crashes. I believe you, but without further information I can't do anything. So, please tell exactly what happens, and in the proper sequence. Thanks, Peter Title: Re: Some problems with y-6 / Vista / Engine 3 Post by: guytou1 on February 25, 2010, 09:35:44 am Thanks for your answer, Peter.
I have the small text "Undemo". So, what can I do ? More precision about my crashes : there is no message, but I have noise instead of music, and there is sometimes a high processor load. More precision about this noise : it is a sound loop, it repeats unendly a very small music sequence . Title: Re: Some problems with y-6 / Vista / Engine 3 Post by: PeterSt on February 25, 2010, 10:43:01 am Ok. I sent you a PM (on the forum).
Next, you are using Engine#3, right ? It looks like your Q1 slider is set too high ? If this doesn't help, is there any setting you perceive normal sound from ? And what is your soundcard / DAC ? (and how is it connected). Regards, Peter Title: Re: Some problems with y-6 / Vista / Engine 3 Post by: guytou1 on February 27, 2010, 08:54:38 am Hi,
You can find here some pictures. You can notice the high memory load, much higher than without resampling. The problem occurs mainly at the end, or near the end of a track. It can occur sometimes in the middle of a track, when there is a peak of CPU load. About my computer : it is my second computer, the main computer is working with XP - another story. It is a 2 to 3 years old laptop with Vista, one core. I use here the SPDIF output of the mother board's sound card, feeding a TACT amplifier with digital input (and only digital inputs). I don't know how or what yet, but it looks like the Split File size setting is not being respected with the AI setting. Good that you have it at 20 in your screen copies, or otherwise I may never have (tried that and) found this high memory useage. So your problem will be that you are running out of memory at some stage. I will try to solve it of course. Peter Title: Re: Some problems with y-6 / Vista / Engine 3 Post by: guytou1 on March 05, 2010, 08:57:42 pm Hi,
Yes, 0.9y-7 works much better than 0.9y-6, no more memory overload. I have netherveless some remaining problems. The transition from one track to the next one dosn't work when the next track lasts longer than 6 minutes. There is a 100% CPU load lasting 25 seconds, and after that there is the message "Engine 3 stopped" I can also have a sound loop (as before) when I press "Pause". And it takes a lot of time to start a long track. Greetings Title: Re: Some problems with y-6 / Vista / Engine 3 Post by: PeterSt on March 05, 2010, 10:51:18 pm The next version will be better at this. Do remember though it really needs Unattended.
So, the next version wille have the "Quick Start" feature again, while not consuming too much memory (this was a bug I now solved). Regards, Peter |
