Title: y-503 channel issue Post by: Fidelio on January 24, 2010, 09:04:15 pm y-503 switches the channels around here whilst playing (!?).
Title: Re: y-503 channel issue Post by: PeterSt on January 24, 2010, 11:20:23 pm Nice feature eh ?
Hmm ... I discovered this before y5 went public and solved that ... ... not really I gues ... Is this Engine#4 ? That assumed, I must have the example. So, can you repeat this for the track concerned when you start at that track ? if so, which album/track is that ? and what time shows in the Playlist Area (like 3:17) ? If you can't repeat it with starting at that track, please try to explain exactly how you can repeat it and again tell me the albums/tracks and their lengths. Next hope I have them. At repeating it, please post your XX, X3 and X3PB log files. Sorry for all the questions ! Peter Title: Re: y-503 channel issue Post by: Eric on February 01, 2010, 12:35:38 pm Hello Peter,
I can confirm the findings in this post from Fidelio. I found that the behaviour is not random, but very specific and easily repeatable. Thes are my findings. In 0.9y-5-03 using Engine#4, the following problem occurs in both unattended and attended. The behaviour is consistent and can be repeated with any selection of tracks (OS is W7-x64 Ultimate). When starting to play a (selection of) a playlist, the 1st track plays the Left/Right channels as it should. But from the 2nd track on until the last track, L/R is being played as R/L (reversed channels). To prove that my ears didn't fool me (do I really need to?). I confirmed this by playing L/R tracks from a test CD and checking Fireface Mixer meters. Note: 0.9y-5-03 Engine#3 is behaving normal w.r.t. channels. Cheers, Eric. Title: Re: y-503 channel issue Post by: PeterSt on February 01, 2010, 03:49:55 pm Wow Eric, this is priceless information ! I could have looked AGES for it to occur.
How it ever can happen that this is standard for only going from the first to the second track ? I must be a genius. :swoon: IOW, I find it hard to believe that this *always* happens, and never between other tracks. There is one thing I like to add : I knew of the phenomenon in the first place because it happened between file parts (when the Split File parameter is set low enough). So, that was apparent, and showed at the "vu" meters of my sound device. Next I descovered this was just a windows bug. So, I had to tweak it by sneakily adding a sample for one channel (you didn't hear that eh ? haha). Maybe this now plays tricks on me. No matter what, thanks a lot ! Peter Title: Re: y-503 channel issue Post by: PeterSt on February 01, 2010, 03:58:00 pm And Eric, can I ask :
What is your Split File setting ? And how did you play when you saw exactly this happening (Nothing/Double/Quad) ? And what was the longest track (in time) for this sequence of tracks ? Thank you, Peter Title: Re: y-503 channel issue Post by: Eric on February 01, 2010, 05:54:14 pm Peter,
I play Double (my TwinDAc+ does not acceot quad :() , ArcPrediction, Splitfile=150. It happened on the different tracks and CD's I played, but keep in mind that the first time I ran engine#4 was yesterday, so my testing is rather limited. I thought it would be wise to inform you right away instead of doing more testing. I did test the settings of the parameters Allow Format Change, Start Engine3 During Conversion, Stop Services. However, these seem to mhave no effect on the result. Example: Play the CD: Elvis Costello - The Juliet Letters. The size of the intro track01 called "Deliver Us" equals 8.53 MB. BTW: SQ is more than superb for both Engines with slight differences in soundstage and texture. Congratulations again! Note: (you didn't hear that eh ? haha). Actually, I did hear it because it reverses L/R ;) Cheers, Eric. |
