Title: XXHighend referense track list Post by: adyton on December 10, 2009, 10:19:30 am Hi
Since we all are struggling for the best sound, it could well bee in place to create An XXHighend reference track list. It would be helpful when we want to share our listening experiences /Kaj Title: Re: XXHighend referense track list Post by: Fidelio on December 10, 2009, 10:21:18 am Since we all are struggling for the best sound, it could well bee in place to create An XXHighend reference track list. It would be helpful when we want to share our listening experiences I think this is a very good idea; talking about the same tracks when discussing SQ could be immensely useful. Just let us avoid "audiophile" cr*p recordings. Title: Re: XXHighend referense track list Post by: adyton on December 10, 2009, 10:26:08 am I agree. I'm totally new in the PC-route, and had a hard time just spelling track list instead of test disc!
Title: Re: XXHighend referense track list Post by: Fidelio on December 10, 2009, 11:42:34 am Why do words like cr*p, fuck and sh*t always get moderated on this forum? I don't like it. Censorship sucks - we are European, are we not?
Edit: Looks like it's auto-moderating some words. Fuck is obviously all right. Let me try a few more: piss, cunt, twat, knob :) Title: Re: XXHighend referense track list Post by: Leon on December 10, 2009, 04:52:39 pm @Fidelio you go man. Hahahahaaa

One of my favorite tracks for demoing is "What was it you wanted" - track no. 10 from Willie Nelsons "Across the Borderline" I am not very good at describing the sound in Hi-Fi terms but this tracks is very, very spacious - and breathing wounderfully, so to say. Maybe somebody else have heard this track and care to comment on it. My suggestion would be to include a track like that in a Reference Track List. From the mid nineties and on the the Danish Hi-Fi Magazine "High Fidelity" included with each new copy a Reference CD with tracks from all kind of different genres. I have all 80 CD's. When they review(ed) a product they refered to specific trakcs chosen from these CD's which was / is an excellent idea, I think. I was missing out on the last 25-30 CD's and bought these for 2 Euros each at "High Fidelity" - very cheap I think. Wish we could all buy a sample CD with 5-10 nice demo tracks and then refer to that when talking about sound quality.... Applauds to Kaj for bringing on the idea of a reference track list. Well, let us just say that I personally give a sh*t if the language is full of piss etc, but but NOT full of sh*t!. Of cource all types of words will have some effect and its not good if it spoiled the hole picture. /adyton Title: Re: XXHighend referense track list Post by: adyton on December 11, 2009, 02:36:41 pm Hi Per
Yes, I have a lot of the danish High-fidelity ref: cd's. I could send you a list of which number i have. SAD to say, I read an notice from Thomas Stillesen (founder of Densen i think) on a danish hifi forum, and high-fidelity is going to stop Its hard times! What about: Allison Krauss & Union Station - It Doesn't Matter And, Blues Company - Cold Rain Mostly for testing the bass Maybe we should make a difference between favourite music and music for testing purpose. This should be about test-files for system tests. Roy Title: Re: XXHighend referense track list Post by: Fidelio on December 11, 2009, 07:05:50 pm For rock:
Babyshambles - La Belle et la Bête Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster - The Dancing Girls Them Crooked Vultures - Nobody Love Me And Neither Do I and some esoteric Vivaldi perhaps, Naïve's Vivaldi Edition series has a few nice ones.
